Where

The conference will be held at the Physics Institute of the University of São Paulo. The University is located right at the heart of the city of São Paulo, in a beautiful green campus covered with preserved native tropical forrests. It is ranked as the top University in Latin America, with almost 100,000 students. The physics institute has around 120 permanent faculty members, 1100 undergraduate students and more than 300 graduate students, developing research in all areas of physics

São Paulo is the largest city in the Southern Hemisphere and a cultural hub in Brazil, being home to many parks, monuments and museus. It also holds events such as the São Paulo Art Biennal, the Formula One Grand Prix and the São Paulo Gay Pride Parade. São Paulo is the wealthiest city in Latin America by GDP, functioning as the financial and commercial centre of Brazil. The city is only a few hours drive to many touristic attractions, specially beaches such as Ilhabela and Paraty. More information about tourism in the state of São Paulo can be found here.

Currency

The currency in Brazil is the real. Roughly, $1 fares for around R$4. Reais can be bought at the airport or withdrawn at any ATM machine in the city. Credit cards are also accepted in all establishments in the city. 

Getting here

The São Paulo-Guarulhos International Airport (GRU) is around a 1h drive from the city. The official airport Taxi is extremely easy to use and allows you to pay in advance (a typical fare costs around R$150. Car servives such as Uber or Cabity are also extremely efficient and cost around R$80.

Accommodation 

We recommend the following neighborhods for staying in São Paulo, as they are close to the university but also offer a lively atmosphere: 
  - Pinheiros/Vila Madalena.
  - Cerqueira Cesar (around Paulista avenue). 

Airbnb works very well in São Paulo.

Getting around

The easiest way to get to the University, specially for a short stay, is by Taxi or Uber. Uber costs around R$20 and Taxi aruond R$30. If you prefer public transport, we recommend the bus. In that case, the line to take is the "7411 - Cidade Universitária” which goes through Rebouças Avenue.
